Feeling tired all the time?

Fatigue is a symptom of our modern day living.   We are so busy running around trying to cram in more activities into our day without a thought of how this can affect our mental and physical well being. (VIDEO  below)
Why am I so tired?
Fatigue can lead to poor blood circulation, an illness that affects your metabolism, certain infections and some inflammatory diseases.  It can also be a result of medications you have been subscribed.  If you have a sleep disturbance associated with insomnia you can wake up feeling fatigued.    If you are experiencing a physical or mental ailment such as depression or some other psychological condition you may experience fatigue.
What are some of the causes of fatigue?  There could be any number of reasons so we will list a few here but it is always recommended to check with your physician if the problem persists:

  • Underlying cause such as heart disease, anemia (physical)
  • Diabetes (physical)
  • Stress, anxiety, depression (psychological and psychosocial)
  • Excess Work
  • Lack of Proper Sleep (physiological)
  • Excess Alcohol Intake
  • Poor Diet
  • Obesity (physical)
  • Vitamin Deficiency
  • Pregnancy (physiological)

You can also be tired from every day activities that are not considered to be fatigue but just a matter of being worn out:  physical activity, boredom, emotional stress.  If you stay up too late, drink too much caffeine, or eat junk food these habits can also make you feel tired.
In order for your fatigue to be considered “chronic” you have to experience the fatigue for at least four-six months.  There are certain symptoms your physician will look for if you fall into the chronic fatigue category:  muscle or joint pain, headaches, sore throat, dizziness or nausea, etc.
