When to see a doctor
Dennis Jarvis/Flickr/CC BY 2.0 First of all, remember it’s important to check with your healthcare practitioner before trying any natural remedies. And although stomach bugs don’t generally require a trip to the doctor’s, Mayo Clinic suggests doing so if any of the following symptoms are present.
- You’re not able to keep liquids down for 24 hours.
- You’ve been vomiting for more than two days.
- You’re vomiting blood.
- You’re dehydrated: signs of dehydration include excessive thirst, dry mouth, deep yellow urine or little or no urine, and severe weakness, dizziness or lightheadedness.
- You notice blood in your bowel movements.
- You have a fever above 104F (40C).
