9. Brittle nails
Studies have shown that this plant could assist with weak and brittle fingernails as well as white spots on your nails.
Remedy: Steep two teaspoons of dried Horsetail in one cup of water for ten minutes, and then soak your nails. Do these four times a week until your nails are at the desired strength.
10. Tonsillitis and gingivitis
Horsetail is able to ease inflamed tonsils, mouth sores, and bleeding gums.

The high levels of silica and ant-inflammatory abilities in this herb make it a wonderful help in issues of the skin. In fact, horsetail extract is used frequently in beauty lotions that help to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging.
Remedy 1: For rashes/burns: make a horsetail paste (mashed up roots and water) and put it on the affected skin for twenty minutes up to five times a week.
Remedy 2: Acne: diluted and cooled horsetail tea is a wonderful toner for after you have washed your face at night. Just dip a cotton swab into the tea and apply it to your face before you use our lotion.
Side Effects
Horsetail is not intended to be used for long term, especially internally. There are concerns that it may deplete thiamine levels and cause a deficiency, which can be fatal in those who are already deficient such as alcoholics. Common side effects include diarrhea, increased urination and stomach discomfort.
Horsetail also has a known reaction with Lithium, so do not use this herb if you are prescribed this medication. Pregnant or lactating mothers should not use this herb and neither should children under the age of eighteen. Do not ingest Horsetail for more than one month at a time, if you plan to use it after that then you need to take a week break and then return to you dosage.
