21 Amazing and Surprising Uses for Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender, I can smell it now, just thinking about it. Lavender is known as the soothing calming herb. And it’s true, it does have calming effects. Lavender is not just to help you sleep though, it has some surprising uses. I came across this great article from a blogger called Jennifer Schuman. She has compiled a nifty little article on the many uses of lavender. I have also added a bonus; Anti-inflammatory Recipe: lavender and lemonade beverage.

Lavender’s therapeutic uses were first documented scientifically when a French scientist, René Gattefossé (1881 – 1950), used it accidentally to help heal his hand and promote skin regeneration from a laboratory burn (it was the only liquid nearby and he plunged his hand into it after the burn). He was quite surprised at how quickly his burns healed with very little scarring. He is also considered the father of aromatherapy and the inventor of the word “aromatherapy”.
