6 Natural DETOX Baths - For a Super Relaxing Cleanse Relaxing Cleanse

Baking Soda Detox Baths

Dissolve 4 cups of aluminum free baking soda (source) in a regular size tubful of water as hot as you can tolerate. Use more as needed if your tub is oversized. Stay in the bath until the water has cooled which will take approximately 45 minutes. Do not rinse after the bath – simply towel dry.

This bath is beneficial for exposure to irradiated food, swollen glands, sore throat or soreness of the gums and mouth. It is also beneficial for those with digestive impairment such as the inability to hold food in the stomach comfortably.

Epsom Salts Detox Baths

Dissolve 2 cups of epsom salts (source) in a regular sized bath. Use more as needed if your tub is oversized. The temperature should be comfortably warm but not overly hot. Soak for at least 12 minutes and up to 20-30 minutes. Rinse and towel dry.

The scientific name for epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Magnesium and sulfur are both critical nutrients but surprisingly can be poorly absorbed from our food. Soaking in epsom salts overcomes this problem as these minerals both absorb readily via the skin.

According to the Epsom Salt Industry Council, a simple soak is beneficial to heart and circulatory health, can lower blood pressure, helps ease muscle pain and eliminates harmful substances from the body. It also improves nerve function by encouraging proper regulation of electrolytes.

Soak in epsom salts 2-3 times weekly for general health maintenance or to alleviate the discomfort of bruising and sprains. An epsom salts soak also encourages detoxification of drugs remaining in the body after surgery.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Detox Baths

Add 2 cups of pure apple cider vinegar (source) to a regular sized tub of water as hot as tolerated. Use more as needed if your tub is oversized. Stay in the bath until the water has cooled which will be about 45 minutes. Towel dry and don’t shower for at least 8 hours. This bath is a great overall detoxifier and for muscle aches and pains brought on by physical exertion. It is also helpful and the best detox bath choice for those with candida issues that affect the skin as it returns the skin to an optimal, slightly acidic ph which is a difficult environment for candida to thrive. An ACV bath draws excess uric acid out of the body. Uric acid is created when the body breaks down substances called purines in certain foods and drinks. Most uric acid is eliminated via the kidneys in the urine, but some folks such as those with gout can have issues with excess levels. An ACV cleansing bath can provide welcome relief for those with joint problems, arthritis, gout, bursitis, or tendonitis. It also is very helpful for those with excessive body odor problems.

Additional Detox Bath Notes

  • The warmer the water, the more powerful the detox effect will be.
  • If you have chlorine and fluoride in your water, I recommend adding a few tablespoons of bentonite clay to any of these baths to help absorb the chemicals so they aren’t absorbed into the skin.
  • Any of these natural ingredients can be used alone or in combination for a cleansing effect.
  • All recipes can be doubled or tripled but this will increase the detox effect.
  • I recommend starting slowly with this or any health change.

Contraindications

Be sure to only do one bathing formula per day. Do not mix ingredients from different bath recipes. If you are pregnant, consult with your healthcare practitioner before commencing any detox bath routine.

  1. Sherri, all you need to do it take some basic science classes. But in depth is preferred. When you make claims like “removes toxins and heavy metals”you actually have to prove the claims, not I. But I guarantee you were duped and did not see any toxins or metals coming out of you. Trickery is big business, you were told such things because you paid for these treatments. You literally cannot remove metals unless you have a chunk of actual metal sticking into your skin and it’s literally cut out of you.
Monica it’s ok to do things that make you feel better but the important thing is to not misuse terms, this is how society gets misinformed.

  2. Here’s a fun article with great references to start. .. but I’d like to mention I’m a former phlebotomist, blood lab assistant, medical assistant, and current massage therapist, spawn of a chiropractic family, and my grandfather was a head scientist at MIT.
I work in the holistic field and hear people telling clients false bull$#%&!@* all the time (e.g. get the ear candle treatments they draw out your wax-not even. Get the detox foot soak with reflexology it’ll help detox you-still not even, etc)

  3. If you know anything about physiology, and microbiology I is a good start too, you’d quickly realize your body has its own processes for things. And the two things that actually detox anything are your liver and kidneys. If one of them aren’t functioning well then and only then you can become toxic and no detox program on the market will save your life your pretty much spiraling downhill at that point.
Also if you have an endocrinologist telling you about detox fads, they may be just playing the placebo physiology game with you or they’re not really a legit endocrinologist.

  4. A lot of doctors would rather just let you say dumb things like “I bought those Japanese foot pads and removed a ton of mercury from my blood” and “I bought my copper magnet bracelet and I’m so much more flexible now! ”
    because
    A. it takes time to inform you of how wrong you are and
    B. It might dampen your spirits on your quest to get healthy
    C. You’re probably a hypochondriac so nothing they say will change your mind so back to A, they have no time for that… they have a business to run and they don’t wanna be friends with you.

  5. Basically, all these things were asked to prove their claims and they can’t. It’s not up to me to prove they don’t .
basically if you want to feel good, eat clean and give your body the nutrients and activities it needs to be in good working order. You need sufficient rest, exercise, water, and NO junk food.
I won’t even claim it makes you feel better because you may always feel like crap, that’s an individual thing, but you want to give your body the best opportunity to be in the most efficient working order possible

  6. Detoxing your body is very important to get all the toxins out. I learned this after doing the 10 day celebrity transformation. It’s an organic green cleanse that resets your metabolism and eliminates addiction to processed foods and simple sugars. You will also lose 5-20 pounds in just 10 days guaranteed. I lost 11 pounds in 10 days and kept it off. Private message me for more information.

  7. My opinion is our natural detoxification systems (liver and kidney) are overburdened with a terrible diet. That is why many of us get sick. Many of these detox diets could be beneficial because of what they eliminate. You’re no longer (over)eating bad foods, unhealthy fats, fructose-laden candy, soda and booze. All those foods, in the long term, actively conspire against the health of your liver and kidneys. Having a “detox” focus minds.- You are trying to get healthy. That is why most people feel great after a “Detox” because they have had a dose of healthy living. I don’t believe in the foot pads, but that being said, if people feel better for doing it (placebo or not) there is no harm in it.

  8. I lost 26 lbs in 6 weeks from not eating like $#%&!@* anymore. I ate carbs and proteins and didn’t pay for information on how to do it. I didn’t starve myself nor did I feel like I was on a “diet” because I’m not denting myself of anything.
I’m never hungry anymore and my nausea and heartburn disappeared
