The FDA proposed that requiring manufacturers of products that contain triclosan prove that they’re more effective than just washing your hands or brushing your teeth. But, some studies have found that this chemical causes hormonal imbalances. There has been a rise in concern that the use of triclosan contributes to deadly, antibiotic-resistant superbugs.
Those concerns lead Minnesota’s band, “In order to prevent the spread of infectious disease and avoidable infections and to promote best practices in sanitation, no person shall offer for retail sale in Minnesota any cleaning product that contains triclosan and is used by consumers for sanitizing or hand body cleansing,” says the law.
Do you really want to expose your family to the harmful effects of using soap? It’s bad when you have to ban soap because it contains such harmful chemicals that it could damage your health. But, on the bright side, at least Minnesota officials are stepping up to the plate and taking charge of what is being sold in their state so their citizens won’t be harmed by chemicals.

I still love dial.. and defense soap. I need my body to feel clean.
That’s so weird. Anyone here know why the law goes into effect in 2017 and not sooner?
I think it’s to give the companies time to remove the ingredient or replace it.
